Learn the secrets and techniques for making sushi, and then enjoy eating the sushi you make!
Sushi needs no introduction: this traditional Japanese dish with vinegared rice and raw fish is eaten and enjoyed all over the world. Sushi has come a long way since its invention in the 5th century, but its current form originated in Tokyo during the Edo period.
It's in the heart of Tokyo, a stone's throw from Tokyo Tower, that you'll learn the steps and techniques involved in making sushi.
You can prepare several types of sushi depending on the package you choose:
- Nigiri sushi: the "classic" sushi, a slice of fish or seafood placed on rice
- Gunkan sushi: variation of maki and nigiri sushi, ball of rice wrapped in a strip of nori seaweed on which fish roe is often placed
- Hosomaki sushi (Deluxe formula only) : cylindrical-shaped sushi, surrounded by a thin sheet of dried nori seaweed
At the end of the class, you can dig into the sushi you prepared. You'll also go home with a free sushi-making kit!
