Explore the unmissable sites in the city of Quito and see the equatorial line at the Middle of the World City!
You'll be picked up from your hotel or a meeting point in Quito and then meet your guide for a city tour.
See Quito's emblematic landmarks aboard a replica of a traditional tram.
Shortly afterwards, you'll stop at the Basilica del Voto Nacional, which is the largest neo-Gothic church in the Americas. Admire its façade while your guide briefly explains its history.
You'll then go to the Panecillo viewpoint, on the city's iconic hill, home to a large statue of the Virgin Mary. Enjoy a magnificent and breathtaking panoramic view of Quito.
Your tour continues in the historical centre of the city, where you'll see the Plaza de San Francisco, Plaza Grande, the Cathedral, Carondelet Palace, and many other monuments. You'll finish up with a walk through the traditional neighbourhood of La Ronda, which is full of artisanal boutiques.
You'll have a break and free time for lunch (not included). Afterwards, you'll meet back up with your guide for the drive to the Middle of the World City, situated around 45 minutes north of Quito.
There, you can place one foot either side of the equator line and show everyone back home that you were literally half in the Northern Hemisphere and half in the Southern Hemisphere!
You'll also have the opportunity to visit the Intiñan Museum with your guide. See experiments that defy the laws of physics and recreate the phenomena of balance and rotation, which is only possible in this part of the world!
