Hit the road with your guide to the south of Mexico City where you'll discover Taxco, a mining town rich in history, and explore the depths of a 15th century mine!
You'll leave Mexico City by bus and head to Taxco, which is about 2.5 hours away.
Taxco is a pretty colonial town nestled on the mountainside. It is also one of the most significant ex-mining towns in Mexico and the oldest in America. The pre-Hispanic mine is particularly famous and was operational between 1400 and 1500. You'll head down into the mine in an authentic mining lift and discover how the old settlers worked, the tools they used, and the various precious metals that were found there.
Next, it's time to explore the picture-perfect city of Taxco, where you'll see an abundance of beetle cars roaming the cobbled streets. You'll see one of the most beautiful churches in the country, Santa Prisca, which was built in 1759, and you'll have the opportunity to peruse and purchase locally made handicrafts, jewellery, and silverware.
Time to head back to Mexico City after a culturally rich excursion to the city of Taxco.
