Discover the Cinque Terre in one day during your stay in Florence: set off to discover its picturesque villages!
You'll leave Florence by bus with a guide to reach the last protected part of the Italian Riviera: the Cinque Terre! Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cinque Terre are traditional villages set within a protected national park.
Your first stop will be in the village of Manarola or Riomaggiore. You'll be won over by the picturesque setting before you: pretty, colorful houses, little churches and stores clinging to cliffs overlooking the sea. Take your time to discover these jewels, then take the train to Vernazza, a village worthy of a postcard. You'll stroll through its narrow streets to the port, from where you'll be able to take some superb shots.
It's here that you'll take the boat and enjoy a unique perspective on the village. You'll head north along the coast to reach the village of Monterosso al Mare.
Monterosso is the first village in the Cinque Terre starting from Genoa. It is reputed to be the only village with a beach, and is not situated on high ground unlike the other 4 villages. However, you'll be able to observe the hills surrounding this superb village and the rocky coves all around.
If you've chosen the option, you'll enjoy lunch in a local restaurant based on fresh, local produce. You'll then enjoy free time to explore the village and for a swimming break.
From Riomaggiore, you'll take the train back to La Spezia, and meet the bus that will take you back to Florence.
Your Cinque Terre adventure comes to an end in this lively, picturesque village. You'll head back to Florence by comfortable bus at the end of the day.
