Enjoy this historical excursion, departing from Edinburgh, as you see Hadrian's Wall and the border of the ancient Roman Empire!
Departing from Edinburgh, board your mini-van with a group no larger than 16, and head south towards the border with England.
You first stop will be at the border city of Jedburgh, an historical village located just a few kilometers from the border. You will be able to freely explore the small streets and visit the abbey, a symbol of power during it's 900 years of existance.
Next, continue south and make a brief stop at Carter Bar, located on the border of the Cheviot hills, which has marked the entry point between Scotland and England for 700 years.
Pass theough the forest of the Northumberland National Park to reach the remains of Hadrian's Wall. Follow the wall south until you reach the Steel Rig, which you can admire large sections of the wall that remain. It was built by Emporer Hadrian between 122 and 127, and at the time, marked the northern border of the Roman Empire. Today, it is on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
There wll be a break for visitors to walk around freely and see the ruins on foot, before the trip returns to Edinburgh late afternoon.
