Discover Hermanus and meet the whales during a full day tour from Cape Town !

After departing from Cape Town, you will travel along a road bordered by mountains and green plains to reach this charming town. You can watch these magnificent whales from dry land as they come to the surface only a few dozen metres from the coast!

You will also have the option to go on a cruise and get even closer to the whales (optional service - 650 ZAR or approximately $65, payable on site). You may also encounter other species that are often in the area, such as seals and dolphins.

If you would rather stay on dry land you will be offered a guided tour of Hermanus. This will give you the opportunity to discover the fascinating history of this picturesque town, nestled between the mountains and the ocean. Whichever option you choose, you will have at least 1 hour of free time in the town to have lunch (not included). 

Then you will head towards Hemel-en-Aarde for a wine tasting (Wednesday and Friday). On Sunday, you will go to the village of Betty's Bay, where you can get close to a large penguin colony and see many of Cape Town's cormorants.

At the end of the tour you will be escorted back to your hotel in Cape Town or to the city centre.

    As well as Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Table Mountain, Simon's Town, Fish Hoek and Muizenberg, you will visit Duiker Island, Boulders Beach (NB: it will cost an additional $10 - $15, payable on site, for the cruise to watch the wild penguins). Transport from Cape Town included.

  • Availability: Monday through Wednesday (excluding exceptional dates)
  • Duration: approx. 4 hours
  • Times: 6:45 from April to October, 7:30am from November to December. Please arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time
  • Departure point: you can choose to go directly to the meeting point or to be picked up at or near your hotel (the meeting point will be confirmed after booking)
     
  • Minimum age: 12 years
  • To take part in this activity simply present your booking voucher to the local tour operator on the day
  • If you wish to take the cable car for the return leg of the hike, expect to pay around 215 ZAR (around $20 per person)
  • We recommend that you bring comfortable walking shoes, a jacket, bottles of water, sun cream, sun glasses and a camera
  • Participants must be in good physical condition for this activity
  • Activity subject to cancellation in the event of insufficient participants or bad weather conditions, in which case an alternative date or a refund will be proposed
