Discover the Montserrat massif and visit its monastery accompanied by a guide!
You'll meet your guide in the centre of Barcelona before setting off on a day trip to Montserrat, Catalonia's most emblematic mountain.
Located just a few kilometres from Barcelona, this rocky chain of needle-like peaks is surprisingly beautiful. The Benedictine monastery overlooking the massif is even more spectacular, and has become a place of pilgrimage. It is home to the famous "Black Madonna" or Moreneta, the patron saint of Catalonia, and is visited by thousands of faithful and curious visitors every year.
Accompanied by your guide, you will visit the monastery, built in the 10th century and still in use today. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the monastery and the lives of the monks who still live there.
After visiting the monastery, you will board the Sant Joan funicular to reach the top of the mountain to begin your hike. You'll be able to admire the local flora and fauna and enjoy beautiful views of the natural park. You'll discover how nature and spirituality are intimately linked.
After the effort, comfort! Once the hike is over, you'll enjoy a typical Catalan pastry, the "coca de Montserrat".
You will have some free time to admire the view over the valley before returning to Barcelona in the late afternoon.
